Sweet and yummy. Really enjoyed it as a cold afternoon soother.
This is perhaps my new favorite blend. The aroma and flavor are delicious, and the toffee carries through and beautifully complements the tea.
As a tea enthusiast with a penchant for dessert-inspired blends, I was immediately drawn to Friday Tea's "Hot Buttered Yum." This seasonal offering promises a delightful twist on the classic hot buttered rum, and I'm thrilled to report that it delivers on every level.
Upon opening the package, one is greeted with an intoxicating aroma that perfectly captures the essence of its namesake. The dry leaf presentation is visually stunning, with large, high-quality black tea leaves interspersed with generous chunks of whole toffee. This attention to ingredient quality sets the stage for an exceptional brewing experience.
Following the recommended steeping parameters of 212°F (100°C) for 2-3 minutes, the liquor develops into a beautiful caramel hue, reminiscent of its flavor profile. The fragrance that wafts from the cup is truly captivating, filling the room with the warm, inviting scents of buttered rum and toffee.
The flavor profile of "Hot Buttered Yum" is a masterful balance of its key components. The robust black tea base provides a solid foundation, strong enough to support the intense butter rum flavoring without being overwhelmed. The toffee pieces melt seamlessly into the brew, imparting a rich caramel sweetness that perfectly complements the buttery notes.
What truly sets this blend apart is its remarkable ability to recreate the comforting flavors of hot buttered rum in a non-alcoholic form. The natural butter rum flavoring is authentic and well-balanced, never veering into artificial territory. The addition of real toffee elevates the experience, adding depth and a subtle nuttiness from the almonds.
The mouthfeel is smooth and full-bodied, with a pleasant viscosity that coats the palate. Perhaps most impressive is the lingering aftertaste - a honeyed crispness that remains long after the last sip, inviting you to return for more.
With approximately 70mg of caffeine per cup (or 3mg for the decaf option), "Hot Buttered Yum" offers a perfect pick-me-up for those chilly winter afternoons. The blend's versatility is another strong point - while delicious on its own, it truly shines with a touch of cream, as suggested by Friday Tea. This addition enhances the buttery notes and creates an even more indulgent experience.
In conclusion, Friday Tea's "Hot Buttered Yum" is a five-star blend that captures the essence of winter comfort in a cup. Its high-quality ingredients, well-balanced flavor profile, and ability to recreate a beloved holiday drink make it a standout in the world of flavored teas. Whether you're a devoted fan of dessert teas or simply looking for a cozy, alcohol-free alternative to hot buttered rum, this blend is sure to delight. Available from December 1st to March 3rd as part of their Winter seasonal rotation, "Hot Buttered Yum" is a limited-time treat that's not to be missed.
I first ordered this last year and have been waiting patiently for it to be available again. Hot Buttered Yum is exactly what it says it is: yummy, buttery, toffee-ish comfort in a cup. I put a little sweetener in it and it’s perfection. One of my faves!
So yummy! And a good all day brew. The toffee is absolutely delicious and continues to have traces after multiple brewings. This is one of my winter favorites.
